IN TERMS OF FUNDS RAISED AND FUN FOR A GOOD CAUSE, KING AND QUEEN NIGHT AT MONTICELLO GAMING AND RACEWAY AND BALLY’S WAS A CROWNING ACHIEVEMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Vivian Allen whose son First Lieutenant Louis Allen of the National Guard was killed in Iraq, was on hand to thank Ray McCarthy, spokesperson for the Sullivan County Airport Festival, for organizing a fundraiser on behalf of Mid-Hudson families of Iraqi Soldiers killed in Iraq. The King and Queen Night held Sunday, September 30th at Monticello Gaming and Raceway and Bally’s raised over $17,000 for eighteen Mid-Hudson families. “Mrs. Allen’s family has made several trips to North Carolina to attend a trial concerning her son’s death,” comments Mr. McCarthy. “Hopefully these funds will help her cover some of the travel expenses she must incur in order to be present,” he adds.
Monticello Gaming and Raceway and Bally’s awarded prizes totaling $5000 to First Place winners Marcus and Sonia Henley, Second Prize winner Craig Steele (Neversink Glass), and Kelly Ratner (Disabled Veterans of America).
The King and Queen, Oly Kolansy and Lisa Salma respectively, were those who won most chips. Each was a given limosine rides from Taste of Class, dinners for two at Carponita’s Restaurant, the Queen received window washing from It’s not a Pane while the King was awarded auto detailing from Rob’s Waxing and Detailing.
Thanks go to various unions, local and distant businesses as well as members of the community for their support.
According to Mr. McCarthy, this is the first of a series of on-going fund raisers for the cause. The Sullivan County Airport Festival is a 501C not-for-profit association dedicated solely to raising monies for families in the region of those who gave all.
